Ginkgo
biloba
Ginkgo biloba is the last representative of a very old race of trees
that lived on Earth 200 million years ago. It is in the fan-shaped
leaves that the active principles of ginkgo biloba are found: flavonoids,
terpenes, pro-anthocyanidines and heterosides. In Chinese traditional
medicine, it has been used for more than 1000 years for poor circulation,
chilblain and asthma problems.
Ginkgo
biloba helps to improve blood circulation through vasodilating and
anti-oxidant effects. Several studies have shown a significant
increase in blood circulation problems such as Raynaud's syndrome
and diabetes. This effect on circulation is mostly seen in the
central nervous system. Ginkgo biloba is very helpful to increase
memory and alertness (cognitive ability). In one study, a supplement
of ginkgo reduced the time needed to process visual information.
The effectiveness of ginkgo is age-related: the older you get, the
more effective it is. Ginkgobiloba is particularly useful
in managing memory loss associated with ageing.
Ginkgo
Plus includes two complementary forms of ginkgo: a standardised extract
and the dried whole leaf. With the standardised extract, Science
insures that the dose of active ingredients is constant from one capsule
to the other. With the whole herb, we get Nature's balance with
principals the solvent could not extract. The combination of
the two gives us the better of both worlds.
